Monticello Fire Rescue is a career and volunteer staffed station covering much of Southern Albemarle County. Career firefighters work 24-hour shifts, while volunteers work 12-hour shifts, providing greater flexibility for our volunteers. Active volunteer members are required to cover 48 hours per month, and while weekend duty is encouraged, it is not required.
Both career and volunteer firefighters staff an engine, heavy rescue, tanker, and ambulance. Between the vehicles we staff, the fire academy, and the expertise of our staff, you are sure to get a varied and extensive background in firefighting and EMS.
The station, which opened in 2011, includes a weight room, locker rooms, multiple sleeping quarters, a community meeting room, kitchen, social areas, and an operations area.
Since we know flexibility is vital to maintain balance, we offer shifts that accommodate family, work, and school schedules.
With our close proximity to UVA and PVCC, we realize that flexibility is vital to maintain balance, we offer shifts that accommodate family, work, and school schedules.
