VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY
North Garden Volunteer Fire Company (NGVFC), located on US 29 south of Charlottesville, provides fire and EMS to more the 90 square miles of rural southwestern Albemarle county. NGVFC responds to more than 600 emergencies annually.
NGVFC has several opportunities for interested volunteers to provide services to the community. As a firefighter, volunteers are provided complete training, fire protective equipment and gear and duty uniforms. NGVFC has a junior firefighter membership program for teenagers 16 to 18 years of age. NGVFC also has an associate membership program allowing volunteers to provide administrative or support services.
Most of our volunteers respond from their residence when the need arises. Each Tuesday evening scheduled meetings, training or work details occur. We have voluntary duty nights several nights a week and scheduled duty nights on Friday and Saturday nights during the winter months.
